Morning Delight

The stars have danced with the moon
For many an hour, until all are
Ready to call it a night.
A hush begins to spread across the sky.
Moon sighs, and drops below the horizon.
Stars fade as they roll over and cover up with sky.

Sun gently pulls herself higher and higher.
Sky softens to pink and then turns golden.
Ocean waves catch the first rays of new day.
Seagulls begin to awaken noisily.
Hunger makes them take flight.
Breakfast of sea creatures will soon be theirs.

Three white horses meander down from the hills.
On to the silky beach, they play in the waves.
Salt spray chases them as a race begins.
Sunlight sparkles like diamonds through the spray.
Legs churn among the waves gaining speed.
Steam from nostrils shows their determination.

On and on, they race playfully,
Nickering encouragement to the current straggler.
They pass on down the beach with tails flagging behind.
Hooves pound the beach in staccato fashion, and then fade.
What an enchanting sight to behold, this morn!
Sun smiles happily to beckon all to start their day.
