Created By God

Created by God

To be His children.

We find our way

Home to Him.

Working through the problems,

Learning from the experiences,

Finding the rhythm of life, and

Seeing the progress made.

Realizing it’s not about us, but

Helping those in need.

Finding joy in the now, and

Growing as we go.

Uniting with our brothers and sisters.

Building a strong and happy family.

Bringing peace to every moment.

Letting love lead the way.

We are our Father’s joy.

We have our Father’s love.

Give thanks for God in our life.

Give thanks for Jesus leading the way.

Depression and anxiety affect treatment in hospital

Depression and anxiety cause a lot of complications for patients. They feel out of control, and worry if they will be getting better any time soon. The mind interferes with the body. If the patient feels that he is not improving, then there is the spiritual loss of hope, and depression and anxiety start to set in.

Doctors are rethinking their treatment methods. Normally, when a patient comes in to the hospital, they treat the symptoms of the problem in the body. This approach concentrates on the body above all else. Recently, they have started to incorporate healing of the mind and spirit.

By doing this, they are getting better results, and shorter hospital stays. The patients are happier, and more resilient. Everybody wins.

There are many ways to treat the mind and spirit. Most incorporate a religious or spiritual aspect. It depends on what the patient is comfortable with.

For instance, meditation and yoga bring calm to an uncomfortable situation. They allow the patient to relax, forget about their hospital room, and what is happening to them. It also asks them to slow down and get in contact with their emotions. When the emotions are worked through, this will cause the spirit to start to heal.

The mind needs to feel productive. Having access to books and computers can relieve the monotony found in the hospital stay. Any activity to stimulate the brain will allow the body to continue to heal in the background. The thoughts and fears are forgotten for a while.

When family members come to visit, it adds stability for the patient. They bring comfort and security. Offering encouragement and knowledge, family becomes vital support for the doctors, nurses and patients.

Why am I writing about this? I spent two months in a hospital and rehab center where a few of these features were grudgingly provided. It often felt like I was being warehoused instead of treated. I needed help, and they could not figure out how to cure my problems.

The doctors focused on treating my symptoms. They kept putting me through regiments that should have worked. However, they would not stop long enough to consult with my parents or me. I could write volumes about my experiences, but that is for another time. When all the standard treatments did not work, they stopped trying. It was a very miserable time for me.

If I had had a better rapport with the doctors and access to other treatments, I feel that my body would have healed quicker, and my stay would have been much shorter.

Favorable Review of Flower Escapes by Chase Von

I received a review by Chase Von for our new book Flower Escapes. He was very pleased with our book. Take a look.

Incredibly Beautiful Master Piece!

I have to admit, at first I thought the price for this book was a bit steep, particularly considering the number of pages. Now that I have it in my possession, I have to say this is such a sublime creation that I don’t think personally the price is too much at all! In all honestly, I truly think it’s worth far more than the price it is listed at and then some!. The poetry by Dawn Huffaker alone is a breath of fresh air but the stunning photographs by Michele Duncan makes for a match made in Heaven.

Recently I finished a book I stumbled upon on Amazon called “Same Kind Of Different As Me” by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. New York Times Best Seller and deservingly so. It gave me a feeling that indeed God himself had a hand in it. (Don’t take my word, read some of the reviews on Amazon and see how many others mirror those same feelings as well). But the reason I mention that is because I got the same feeling from “Flower Escapes.” It’s “Thee Perfect” coffee table book and because it is so beautifully done and inspirational, I can easily see it in Doctors waiting rooms all across the world as well as in Beauty Shops, Nail Salons and yes, Flower Shops beyond a shadow of a doubt! For the guys out there, I don’t think there is a woman on the planet that wouldn’t love this, and I’m sure they would feel as though you have indeed, given them a tiny portion of Heaven. And getting back to sharing it in waiting rooms? I would also like to issue one word of caution. Keep tabs on it or it might grow proverbial legs and walk away on you, if you know what I mean.

Those who love nature? This is a must and you won’t just be pleased, you’ll be stunned! The pictures are indeed breath taking and I also think it would do nicely in any school setting. I would also say that if I didn’t have one, I would buy it as a gift for someone I love “INSTEAD of actual flowers or to accompany the flowers.” This little creation deserves to be in the finest art galleries across the land and I know a few artists I believe would love to recreate on canvas, some of the incredible images captured by Michele’s lens.

(Pictures of nature don’t get any better than the ones she’s taken).

In closing, if this all seems like mighty high praise it is, but I think it falls short of the mark. It states in the upper left hand corner, “Escape Awhile Into God’s Garden!” Which I think personally is a pretty bold statement to make as well but truth be told, it feels exactly like that! Again, this is hard to explain but I have seen flowers for so many years but the apparently God given gift that Michele has, to capture breath taking pictures combined with Dawn’s incredible poetic ability to give nature a truly believable and authentic voice, makes this creation not only something that is intensely beautiful in all regards, but spiritually healing as well.

One last thing, incredibly stupid as this might sound. Until I looked at the pictures in this book, I had no idea how truly beautiful flowers actually are. I have a feeling though, that when you have it in your hands, you will understand exactly what I mean.

Are you looking for a book to inspire your patients while they recover?

Are you looking for a book to inspire your patients while they recover? They say to heal the body, one must heal the spirit also.

My partner, Michele Duncan, and I, Dawn Huffaker, have created a series of books entitled Flower Escapes. These books contain beautiful floral photography, and inspirational poetry. Each page will take readers into a garden setting where they can escape the confines of a hospital setting. As they read the poetry, perhaps they will feel God’s presence, and take the next up towards recovery.

Here are some samples:

The first book is an 11″ by 8.5″ paperback with 38 pages. Future books will be approximately this length. The book format is easy to handle, and remains open while the reader is looking at the current page.

We are currently using a print-on-demand printer. There are discounts for multiple copies. If you have access to a volume printer to reduce the costs even further, please let us know.
